Shaker 1000 to Avic F90BT

Post by Guest on February 11th 2009, 2:15 pm

Has anyone installed an AVIC F series to their Shaker 1000 factory subs/speakers. I have wired everything with the correspondence with David (Mineral Grey). But I am very concerned because I have two wiring harness that were sent to me (Bought:http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-Ford-Mustang-Radio-Wiring-Harness-Shaker-1000_W0QQitemZ230141323802QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Electronics_Installation), but the factory has three. One is for your usual hook ups: dimmer, speaker, power, etc. Another is for the two subs and the amps (which I get popping when car comes on). But what is the third one for, any ideas. I am looking to finish the install tonight if I can get a 12 volt to 5 volt regulator to hopefully stop the bad pop as the amps come on, everything is wired except the sirius which will be done too. But wanted to see if anyone here has done the shaker 1000 wiring for an after market stereo.

Thanks all

www.avic411.com

try to do a search and see if anyone else has had the problem you are referring to.

Yeah have that many times. Nothing really helpful. Almost all the post are on the shaker 500. Nothing letting me know wha the other factory harness is. I did find the following diagrams.

The center one is the one I do not have anything hooked up for.

Jarrod can you give him the link to the writeup we looked at when we installed your AVIC system and the little dealy majigger that we installed to keep it from popping.

My AVIC F90 is installed with the exception of the AM and FM channels (waiting for an adapter). Would like to thank Jerry, Jarrod, Justin, and Brad for helping get the regulator on. Have really not got to play with it yet, but Jerry and Jarrod did and they seemed to love it. Was a late night but hell of fun. "No Jarrod you can not have any of my apple pie!" Thanks again guys. Also would like to thank my wife for feeding us some of her homemade cookies, to keep Jarrod focused.

Wanted to thank David (Mineral Grey) for helping with the bypass and showing me his F90 so I would get the itch to buy one. HAHA. Thanks again for your correspondence back and forth.

No problem, Michael! Glad yours is in and working. Let me know if you'd like help in connecting the VSS, and/or if you want a tutorial in how to boot your F90 into Windows CE test mode, ruin a couple of critical operating files, and turn it into a very expensive paperweight. lol!

I will get a good test on the VSS tomorrow on the way to work, but when I drove a little bit yesterday it kept up with me.

What your seeing could be just the GPS accuracy - there's not even a way to verify the VSS signal is hooked up correctly on the F90. Like I've said, though, there's lots of folks (on avic411.com) that haven't connected the VSS on their F90s and accuracy didn't seem to suffer.

Does the F90 have the speed, Gforce, performance readings like the D3 does?

The deck is sweet! If you have an iphone, this is the one to get, the d series does not let you upload your phone book. It worked like a champ on Mikes, not to mention the voice dial. Very Cool.

No, it doesn't. I kind of miss that screen, too.

Uploading (and then voice dial) differs greatly by phone on the F90 - it works perfectly with some phones; others, not so much. But, the gurus on avic411.com figured out how to download the F90's phone data file (after it pairs with your phone), then how to restructure the file and load it back on the F90 - solves all the problems inherent with the phones that don't work on the first try!

Yeah I love it. Just got to use it on the way to work today. Everything seems to be working great right now. I was reading on the VSS with the F90 all it is basically used for is the sound volume as you go faster it automatically turns up. But I could be wrong.

Is there a way to do that on the D series. Seems there has always been a problem with the d series and the iphone. Is there every any software updates you can download for these radios, or is the Bluetooth a hardware issue?? seems to have been a lot of back and forth on that topic.

Re: Shaker 1000 to Avic F90BT

Post by Metric7 on February 13th 2009, 9:39 am

I'm afraid there's no similar fix for the D-series. The Bluetooth in the D-series is all Pioneer hardware (thus the separate BT box) driven by fixed firmware in the D. Starting with the F-series, Pioneer began using Parrot hardware (chips) and software for the BT functioning. You can update BT software on the F-series via the USB connection (I've done so once already); plus it just works smoother out of the box than the D-series BT ever did. And, because the F-series is Windows CE based, that's what allows you to go in and pull the phonebook data file and make any required fixes - can't do that on the non-Windows based D-series.

Note to the J-twins (Jerry and Jarrod) - if you boys ever decide to man up and get an F-series unit, your existing D-3 harness works perfect with the F! All you have to is change the mute pin position for bypass purposes on the F (it's in a different location on the harness than what the D uses), and plug it in to the F-series!

I will just wait for you to upgrade to the next one, lol!

I would have to un install the BT and XM, because the old one would go into the mustang and the F series would go in the truck. Would be a lot of work, but the thought has crossed my mind.

You said you just got your Tax refund. good

Go for it, got mine off of 6th AVE (http://www.6ave.com) for 598.00 using coupon AFLPIO598. That way I did not have to worry about e-bay. might even be able to find it cheaper.

Probably not on your antique D3, Jerry. Subsequent to the XM/Sirius merger, a lot of the icons and station IDs (names) changed. I don't think there's a means to update the D-series icons and logos, but you might check the XM thread on avic411.com. I downloaded a file off that thread and have updated the icons, etc. on my F90. Just another reason for you to make the leap into 21st century technology! I want more than anyone for you to do that, so today only I'll sell you my F90 for $1,025.00.
