The lack of decent octane is why im going to add a methanol kit to mine.

Down here in Lawton we have one station that carries 93 octane but it has 10% ethenol in it. There are multiple places that carry 92 without ethenol here so that's what I get. I tried running the 93 when I first found it but I heard detonation on a hard pull on the highway (needless to say I got out of the throttle IMMEDIATELY).

For those that want to run octane booster, I found that the Lucas Oil Octane booster worked really well. A study claimed 3 octane numbers per 10 gallons of gas. Most other octane boosters only add 5-6 points (it takes 10 points to make 1 octane number.) This Lucas Oil stuff contains MMT just like torco. I ran it for about 6-8 months with no problems.

** edit ** Best of all, it can be found at any O'rielly's or AutoZone.

Unfortunately with the 2005 and up mustangs the plugs go bad with octane booster. Torco and track gas are the better solutions

Found 93 octane at a Shell on 104st and I-44 in OKC. I have a whipple supercharger is it ok to go with 93 octane on my 91 tune? I assumed extra octane would not hurt. I swear I can tell a difference but who knows.

Its always ok to go up in octane...just never the opposite.

The 93 Octane will work just fine as long as its good gas. With a higher octane gas you actually have a little more play with the tune and can get a little more agressive with the timing.

Using a higher octane gas than what your tuned for sometimes dampers perf just a tad...BUT adds a certain safety factor when boosted

I have been told but not for sure on this. The gas stations get their fuel here and Tulsa on refines 91. If a station has 93 in the area they are more than likely bringing it in from Texas. The cost associated with doing so is not worth it for most places.

The Shell station on 75 just north of Okmulgee has 93 and I think it is real gas.

Torco FTW BTW.
