Nitrous backfire!

Post by Tims2002gt on April 12th 2009, 5:47 pm

blowup
Haha, betcha thought I was gonna say it was me! Anybody see the yellow foxbody GT catch on fire last night on Memorial? I was behind him in the other lane when it happened! He was lined up with a Yellow GT like mine at 51st and he had a big backfire. Had a couple small flames shoot out from the turndowns on his exhaust and then a loud boom. Next thing I know there are flames rolling out from under the hood! It was quite a show to say the least. For those of you that saw the backfire on the dyno back if february, it was alot like that, but with more fire!

Not sure, but it didn't look good! I'm thinking they may have impounded the car! It didn't have a liscense plate and I think it had slicks on it. I know it was towed off somewhere!

I saw him at TRP friday night, but didn't get to see what it was running.

Damn, that sucks.

Memorial is where alot of stupid things happen on the weekends. I saw an idiot lose control turning at 61st and memorial Friday night and went up over the curb and back down into the street. LOL

i think i saw that car on memorial when i was coming from the movies. Sucker had some big slick on the back. kinda of a hurt paint job. i showed of next to him a bit. he asked for it.

so whats the big deal with them people anyway. all they do is drive around the block following each other. hell you can see the cops in the distance, hiding.

I saw a sliver gt with chrome Saleen wheels. I think he's on this sight.

Wow....crazy story. How big were the flames? Car salvagable? 200 shot is pretty balzy on a stock block, but hey if your going to go out...GO OUT BIG! hehe

Memorial can be a rice fest to say the least. Young dumb kids that think their invinceable. We were all there at one point....Oh to be young again

Flames were prob almost 2' high!

As long as your tune-up is good, ie..timing and fuel mixture, you can get away with a big shot like that on those 5 liter motors. The 4.6's are another story.

Yeah, he pulled up next to me just after that car caught on fire. I tried to motion to him there were cops ahead and he took off! I guess he thought I wanted him to get on it. If he wanted to run, i would have. But not out there on Memorial!!

yah i spray 150-200 on my old stock block/bottom end for 4 years and then put a turbo on it with nitrous and never had a problem....

i only know of one red z06 in tulsa and i can almost bet 100% that a shelby DID NOT out run him if they were really racing...

i won't go more that 125 for a daily driver and my only means of transport. Any one remembers when did the forge pistons (TRW) was used in the fox style mustang. start and stop. was it from 87-91? I can't remember.

I think for some...nitrous works flawlessly...then there are those that are cursed (such as myself) that would either burn the car down, Put a rod through the block, or have a leak in the tank....causing me to be extrodinarily happy to run my car into a building hehe Laughing the whole time....

thud
