steering broke

Post by 1 fast 8 on May 17th 2009, 9:29 pm

last night shaft from steering to the center link snapped. wheels turned right so fast no chance to save it. luckily it happened in turn2 so the tires on the wall softened impact. everything up front did what it should to keep frame from getting bent.

I thought you were talking about the stang for a sec.

Glad you didn't get hurt. Did you get any pics or vids of the carnage?

Re: steering broke

Post by 08STALLION on May 29th 2009, 1:08 am

We go about every other and sit in the stands. My 13 year old ran quarter midgets and liked it, but the people (hope i dont step on toes) SUCKED. There involvement, for being a no-pay thing, was ridicolous. There were guys with 30 grand in there 1/4 midgets and enclosed trailors out there.
So I'm trying to get her interested in dirt, want her to try out a fwd or mini but its hard to find someone that will let her make a lap and see what its like. And I hate to buy a car to find out she doesnt like it. Also, and i hate to say this, i think if she were a boy we would have found some one long ago to let her try it out. Thats how i got started at Tulsa in a Street Stock when i was her age, i showed interest to a guy in the pits and he let me hot lap it. Guess its not like that anymore. Anyway we might make it out this weekend, if not it'll be next.

not to tell you your bussiness but a pure stock might be cheaper and safer dont know many mini's or pure stock ppl and i dont think she could see out of mine plus not sure a 13 y/o would be able to handle a mod as a matter of fact it looks like not all of us can handle our cars all the time.there is a pure stock that i talk to a litttle i might ask him.in case you dont know some of the mini's at least the ones winning put a lot in there motor.i would say fwd or pure.but i started in a mod if i had it to do over i woulda started in a factory.i almost quit b4 i started getting faster.we called my first car squirly it lokked like a squirel try to dodge traffic in the straights

Yeah, thats what im afraid of with her, shes only done concrete so far. Shes got a suit, restraints, helmet the whole bit.
I just need to build a beater and let her take it out in a field, get used to sliding around. I think shell get the hang of it. She did great in the 1/4 cars we just couldnt stand the enviroment anymore. And yeah if you know someone that would just let her make a lap or two that would be great, we can throm some $ at him or whatever. If she likes it Ill build her a car this winter let her go next year.

Kelly, we were looking on Creek's website and find age restrictions for the classes, any idea what the age limit is for pure, FWD or mini?
