any help? (Muffler question)
so i have been getting a god awful rattle from under my car the last few days. I know that my alxe back FFRP (which are the borla?) have been know for coming loose and what not. So I got under there yesterday and tighten it up the best i could and this morning got up and took it to a muffler shop to have them set them in place so this didn't happen again. Well after the great man did so (free) he told me to fire it up and be on my way. but the noise wasn't gone. so we left the car running and lefted it back up.
The short story
It was the driver side Catalytic Converter that is trashed and rattling. so my question is it worth putting in something other than the factor cats or should I have him put in a high flow cat? I'm not looking for a real raspy sound which i have heard from people removing there cats. On the other hand i would like a little bit more sound than what I have.
sorry for the long story any help would be appreciated
PS the car has shorties and the axle back both FFRP

Warranty item perhaps? Or maybe someone has one they'd be willing to part with.

Re: any help? (Muffler question)
I say trash the cats and go with an aftermarket midpipe!! FTW! It is worth it....might be a little too loud and (poppy) without the cats though....some have welded in resonators after their off-road pipe install...to soften the sound.
I say Prochamber...I like the sound of that

Re: any help? (Muffler question)
sorry if this a bad question but how many cats are on a stock mustang exhaust system? So one just told me they think there are 4 but I can only remember seeing 2 right past the headers

On the S197s there are two cats. I think the 99-04 had four cats.

Re: any help? (Muffler question)
If I where you, get it warrantied. I don't know how many miles you have, but they are warrantied up to 80k I think. I would looking into if I where you, get a new set of cats, keep them just in case then buy something.

Warranties FTW!!!!
Oh and O/R H-pipe with resonators would also cure your lack of noise.

Re: any help? (Muffler question)
You will need MIL Eliminators or just get a tune and the tune will correct it.
