CarFckstX

Post by Dein on July 15th 2009, 9:02 pm

Anyways..... When are we going to open a shop.. and put CarFckstX outta buisiness....

Prime damn example!!! Jermemy told me all last week that my heat exchanger would be in TODAY... thats what I was told everyday..... I didn't know that CarFckstX is the one that ordered it! Another thing... CarFckstX doesn't know anything about Roush seats.... or they would have told Dave and the other boys that you need to order ROUSH FOAM for the seats... not Ford....

About a month before the bowling session, Lindsey was suppose to get a piece of my front clip warrentied..... did she do it? I'm pretty sure that she didnt! I am so FN' tired of CarFckstX being the only place in Tulsa that you could walk into and get pony parts......

I am serious about this..... there are enough people on this forum that have said that they want the same. Are we going to just talk about this... or can we get together and get something started.....

CarFckstX's main problem is: Will and his family, don't give a shit about their customers.... they want the money.... I really think that if you take care of your customers... then you will not have to worry about money.......

Any comments?

This will be a great idea. nothing like a little compitiotion. I think thats why he prices are high. no competion. When ever i stop by The old guy always ask me were i get my parts from and how much. Most of my stuff came from Brenspeed (good prices) or who ever have the parts cheaper on the internet.

If you open a shop how about putting 2 gutted out mustangs on the roof like i seen at the Peterbuilt dealership with thier truck. looks cool.

David/Paul, I know that the economy is crap right now...... I was kinda getting at.... We need investors..... I know we can make good on the investment........ Like I stated.... there is alot of people that are either memebers of the club, or people that just read the posts from the net. Someone knows someone that would invest in this..... and if you have ever dealt with CarFX, then you will know what we are talking about!!!!

Exactly. He doesn't have any competition so they can charge an arm and leg for things and they know 90% of the people will pay it.

Take this for example:

A kid my age, graduated Union '08 took his 07 GT in to CarFX and said he wanted a supercharger. With a little bit of talking and a week later, CarFX had thrown on a Roush SC with a few suspension mods (LCA, UCAs, and springs) and charged him a whopping $9,000!!

Of course, the kid didn't know any better and he text me saying he had all that done and didn't even think twice about how much he paid.

All they care about is the money and they love stupid people coming in that don't know anything about these cars and charging the Sh*t out of them just because they think they are the only ones in town who knows the S197s.

On top of that, they didn't even give him a Dyno tune! They used the stock generic tune from Roush for the supercharger so he doesn't even know how much power it makes. . . . . so sad.

I have always wanted to do this Dein....Paul, David, and Myself have been talking about opening our own shop for years now. It takes money....if you can find an investor I would definitely put my time in to make it work. In this economy...its hard to find the capital for such an adventure.

Would love to try though. There would be plenty of support

this could be a very good venture as i believe as ppl get older they like to get a muscle car like they had when they were younger.since there are so many stangs now it will only grow. but remember we have some sources already to bypass car**** i think between GREG and GOERGE can get a lot of stuff and greg installs and STANDS BEHIND WHAT HE SELLS.

Nah, get the Car Country chick. Much hotter.

Yeah, the business plan should include costs for space, start-up inventory, insurance, marketing etc. Never worked up one of those, but I'd be willing to help.

Start up cost... I can only speculate without checking costs. Rent, utilities, vendor contracts, tools and equipment. Advertising is a must, but I think word of mouth, web and other sources will cut down on costs. I would be willing to invest my time... I'm sure like most for little pay... Until the money starts coming in

So what exactly is the idea? A speed shop that works on all types of performance cars? Cosmetics? Selling racing fuel? SA 2005 helmets and Motul brake fluid? What happens when a ricer drives in to the shop?

LOL! I now have a mental picture of Jarrod spritzing customers with a sample of "Eau de JerBear" perfume as they walk in the door...

Seriously, this is a good idea. With the collective knowledge, experience, and expertise of members of this club, I think this could be a going concern. There's enough Mustangs on the road today (with more being built every day) to provide a large potential customer base. Not sure that I can contribute a lot of $$ at the moment (still paying off rugrats' college bills), but I can certainly come by the shop and hang around for hours on end supervising everyone else's work while being completely useless. My wife would say I'm very good at that...

Re: CarFckstX

Post by Guest on July 16th 2009, 9:45 am

All good questions Blair. I dont believe we should turn away any business. Muscle cars in general would be our niche (preferrably mustangs :) ) The market is ripe for a location to provide excellent service without the high cost markups that some shops apply (insert CarD** here)

People locally have the money to spend...BUT no one wants to go to Carstix. They would rather spend their money on the internet and or look for someone in the OKC/Dallas area to do the work.

Trick is to start off in an intellegent manner. Keep costs down while "building the business". We are not a shop that dyno tunes....we start out as a location in which to purchase your performance and bling bling parts. A place you can go to and get advice on "what do do next with my new mustang I baught". To be honest...most of the S197 drivers around town...dont know what they can do? Their not familiar with their car and or parts that are available. When they go to Will he suggests spending at least a GRAND on upgrades. we would provide the alternative....an affordable route that our customers would appreciate. If the people walking through the door feel as though your not out to open their wallet, they tend to spend more and or continue their business with you for years. Long term goals...not short term money making is the key to success.

Just some ideas I thought of...

Thats how the shop would progress. Dynotuning takes skills and a whole lot of money. The SC installs would be the easy part. A good dynojet will run upards to $50k-$60 depending on the software and equipment. Someone would need to train on it and learn how to use it effectively so as to insure every customer gets the best dyno tune they can...meanwhile insuring no cars "Blow up"

We probably need to get together in a bar or somewhere and brainstorm what services we could provide. After that would come the business model to see if it would be feasible and profitable. I've got some play money available if things look good.
