Exhaust

Post by andizzle34 on August 1st 2009, 12:46 pm

I currently am running aftermarket flowmaster 40's series on stock midpipe and headers. I am wanting a more aggressive sound but I also want to keep the flowmasters. Will at Car FX said that any midpipe swap especially an OR midpipe would ruin the baffles in the muffler. He is the only one I have talked to that has said that the OR X pipe will ruin the flowmasters. What do you guys think?

me, my dad, and my brother own broken arrow muffler and i have only seen this happen twice, once on my car. most people who have the OR x or h dont like the flowmasters because of the raspy sound of the thin plates inside the mufflers. just look it up on youtube and find wat u like...the flowmasters with the OR x lasted me about 4 or 5 months before the plates inside the flows started making noise.

Dont trust everything Will tells you. Do your own research and ask others.

Mine started rattling too as well as David. They exchanged them at no cost. I believe all the issues have been resolved. Should be safe to buy.

All flowmasters made after the first batch in 05 were fixed. They will not rattle with an O/R mid pipe. I have a O/R H-pipe from Pypes and have had it on my car for over two years with no issue. Will is just trying to sell you somthing you don't need.

www.brenspeed.com

Check here you can hear sound files with many different combos of muffler and pipes. He also sells the Pypes H or X pipes and is an exelent vendor to deal with. Very fast shipping etc etc. Also a great place to get a tune. I run Brenspeed tunes and for a non dyno tune it runs like a raped ape.

like david said, flowmaster fixed the baffle problem after the first batch... they sound even better now, and will last forever. but my opinion would be an O/R H with flows instead of an X.

I agree with Andrew. I have had both an x and an h. The h-pipe sounds the best in my opinion.

There are alot of combos you can find on Youtube. Find the one you like. I have flows on mine and they sound pretty good and no rattleling.

Like others have said....dont trust everything you hear from Will. Trust us.

The newer Flows are just fine and should not be an issue with an Off Road X or H. If you do have an issue...most muffler shops will warranty them for you and replace them.

A lot of members have the Flowmaster O/R X or H and dont have any issues. Sounds good.
