filler up issues?

Post by Papi on August 16th 2009, 8:08 pm

I found this web sight and i don't know if anyone seen this before. Ever had a problem filling up your mustang and the dam thing just won't fill some times. I think this guy is onto something. A filter located near the charcoal canister.

always turn the nozzle 90 degrees and it fills fine. It's all in the size of the tube that runs from the inlet to the tank. If you haven't looked at it donut. It's about 1 inch in diameter. It's gay

Yeah, this has been a known issue since the '05 first came out - lots of talk back in the day from owners who couldn't fill their tanks because the fuel nozzle shut off every few seconds. I've never had that problem with mine; the ones who did either turned the fuel nozzle upside-down while fueling or just went to a different station - some nozzles are worse than others.

i know what you mean. I like to install a slightly larger filler tube, but the problem i think is the air stuck in the tank trying to get out when filling. I guess a larger fill tube will work. I'm going to try the filter thing when i get a chance at work.

Hey Ford tech guys... have they come out with a fixer for this with the 2010? its been going on for 4 years now.

my trailblazer did the same thing... the work around I use is kind of time consuming but I put the gas in a 64oz cup from inside the station... then I unplug a vacume hose (any will do) from under the hood and syphon the gas from the cup into the tank.... just be careful when putting gas in the cup as it fills up very quickly... stop the pump when cup is 3/4 full (it will usually fill up on its own)..... I have to do this about 32 times per empty tank

I had this problem only once, and that was at a gas station I haven't used since. Everywhere else -- no problems filling up at all. So yeah, it can certainly depend on the nozzle at the pump.
