Mods/Rods Shootout Race Poll

Please vote for the type of race you would like to see happen this year at Mods/Rods if everything comes together and we get this planned

Will have a couple hours of testing and your fastest ET will determine your place in line

Option #1: Race as we did the first year RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG fastest mod vs fastest rod paired up accordingly fastest to slowest each win gives team ONE point, most points wins

Option #2: Race as we did last year, still a RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG race but it goes into a tournament style format with single elimination, Winner take all

Option #3: Race with a class format can have Street Tires/Drag Radials/Slicks you have to put in on your tech card what class before you test

Option #4: Bracket Style Dial in, if you get tree'd youre f-d

Option #5: We say F the race and just show up and beat the shit out of our cars and have a lil grudge racing?

lets get this going if we are going to get a date set for this, also can try and get some more word of mouth out and get a few more cars to come up

in the past two years Mike G and Kit have came out and first year they raced each other that was cool, last year Kit came out but didnt run b/c no one running could keep up with his car. Of course this year if someone brings out a car that is untouchable lets say in the 8.50 and faster range no reason to even run. we can get into this later

I vote for the tire class. It would be easy to setup and keep organized.

Sold my drags, so all I have are street tires now. Are we talking timed qualifying? Match up the closest times? That's the way I like to run, haven't been beaten in timed runs

Then tire class, I guess, if it's still time against time. I wouldn't want to run someone doing 11-12's against my 13-14's, that would suck. Got my ass handed to me last time at Mods vs Rods. Rods always win.

mods won last year if you remember lil white turbo cobra

if there is a street tire rod running 12s and you match up with it as far as where you are on the list and you run a 13 will be tough shit

thats why this is a shootout RWYB and why the dial in bracket style is getting its ass kicked as far as votes go

everyone needs to look at this as a way to see more people get another all ford day at the track and just another day at the track for some TNT without all of the lil kids on friday night

I am just not that interested in showing up to the light and being paired up against an 11 sec fox, when I run 12's, whats the point?? Good for him that he put 20K in his motor, but can he drive it. A bracket style race allows for car and driver, where as fastest time is just a chest beating contest of who has the most horsepower. I am going to support it, but it just doesn't make it fun to watch or participate in when its heads up by time. When you do it that way your closes races are your 13-14 sec cars. HMM sounds real entertaining.

i made this fair from incorporating the original format and making up a poll, right now its looking like RWYB original style that will end up winning with the Tire class coming in a close second, tomorrow is last day to vote

if people dont speak up and vote then its their own fault

It's true, it's fun till the end, when you know you don't stand a chance. You look over and some guy with more motor than sense pulls up, you know you're screwed, lol

But it's good practice. Just go and try to beat your own personal best, don't worry about the other guy.

I need an "Other" choice. I'd like to see the dial-in with special prizes/award for fastest mod and fastest rod, etc. A hybrid of sorts. The way I look at... if they do the same thing as last year, I'm not running. No point in it.

I'd like to see representatives from each club meet and pound out a plan.

you know with all of the drama between 4 forums no one stepped up to the plate to do this race and all i hear from this forum is how bad a rod car is going to whoop up on the poor little mod cars

why dont you guys spend some money on those daily drivers, plenty of fast ass mod cars out there cant say they arent paid for anymore 96-2005s outta be paid for and people modifying the hell out of them

hell if you get so butt hurt about getting beat on by another ford why even race your car out at TNT then???

that is they way you outta see this race if you dont have a fast car just a way to come out enjoy a day of racing, a car show, and prob a dyno day enjoy the cars and people

this race was intended to mock the Ford vs Buick race which is RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG thats it!!! it took many many many years to get that race where it wasnt lop sided, this one will be the same

Modding the hell out of your car requires money, which some of us have, and some don't. Life often has higher priorities than mods, which on newer cars are more expensive than older rods cars.

No one is butt hurt, just voicing their opinions, which are valid and welcomed. Throwing out options is all.

This is the time for suggestions, and you asked for them, so try to keep your panties out of a wad. :)

tire class i think would make RWYB a lil better b/c you arent going to have cars with slicks racing guys with DRs and street tires and if someone is found sandbagging the win will go to their opponent

can have as many test passes as you want until the race begins

oh well one more day and decision will be made

currently working on dates for our own day not shared with the diesel trucks or imports etc

Is there anything about this thats not going to be a competition?? I was voicing my opinion on how I thought it should be done and I thought that was what was asked. If no one likes it fine. I did say I would still go out and support it, because I like the idea of the event.

My take is this. I want to make it something people would want to come out and watch. Make it something bigger and better. If its not entertaining and not well run. then we all just need to chip in rent the track and have a TNT day for all Ford's.

You can't ask for opinions and then bash people for voicing them. i think I speak for a lot of the BMMC when I say, drag racing is fun. But it's not the only thing we do. Some members like to show there cars, other do cruises and other race.

To most members, it's not about how much HP you have and what you run in the 1/4 mile. It's about meeting and hanging out with good people that are like minded enthusiasts. Drag racing is just a single piece of that.

It's cool, Steve, just take the poll, go with the results and make the decision. Most of BMMC will come out to represent anyway :)

Whatever the thing ends up being if it's not organized like last year it will be a mess. That being said I think two people from each club BMMC, Dead Horse, Midwest etc should decide how it will run agree to terms and each take a portion of the responsibility in organizing the event to promote etc and make sure it runs as planned. No matter how we race heads up tire class etc if it's a cluster F no one will want to come again.

Like most forums, you can't ever get a decision out of any of them. They can't even decide on where to have lunch . . .

It takes 9 pages of posts to decide on a place, then another 3 pages to decide on a time.

getting a couple people from each organization would be cool but like probkauz said and is correct its hard enough for one group to decide on one thing let alone four groups on one race

last year was a mess b/c it came down to the day of figuring out how to run the race

no one seemed to want to get this going on any forum and with the TRP 2010 schedule already out and dates are limited I stepped up to the plate and we had multiple threads and lots of ideas the top 5 were listed above

i added in the part about having a car show for those that want to come out and be a part of it more than spectating, they can clean up their ride and show it off

plus with a couple guys talking about maybe bringing their dyno out that would be cool as well

im not bashing anyone for voting the way they do just saying the vote around the forums will decide how it is to be ran this year, at least 30 people voted on okdhm the rest dont care how it is to be ran

no one way is going to make everyone happy, the first year everyone had a great time playing at the track and no one really bitched much about it, last year they tried something different because it was way lop sided, this year it seems as if more people like the original way it was ran rather than the tournament style like last year

its going to take a couple years to get this thing figured out and get it going strong, but also have to remember that it is for fun and it is a shootout race mimicing ford vs buick just going to take a while to get everyone involved

advertisement would help though, last year no one knew what was going on just a date, and people from dfw, ark, mo didnt have a chance to come up and attend, well some did but others wanted to as well

figured id take charge of this thing get it started get a date picked out and roll from there, its not going to be perfect nor will everyone be satisfied

What is the date that's available? Car show, vendors would be good too. Maybe talk to some shops, tuners, etc. about setting up tables. Get some donation stuff for raffles, make a big deal out of it.

I'm still behind you Steve, and I will be out there to support it. I guess the lack of oraganization is what soured everyone on the tournament style. Oh well, maybe we can try it again another time
