Inside the 5.0 Coyote Engine
The March '10 issue of 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords magazine has an excellent article on the design, development, and testing of the new 5.0 Coyote engine: http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/m5lp_1003_2011_ford_mustang_gt_50_coyote_engine_teaser/index.html
You'll have to buy the magazine to read the article; the above link is just a teaser. It's a great and very thorough article on this new engine - I haven't finished the entire article, but a couple of noteworthy quotes from it are: 1.) "Engine and transmission swap fans will be happy to know the engine mounts and bellhousing bolt pattern are carryovers from the 4.6 block." 2.) Talking about the forged connecting rods in the Coyote engine: "These rods are plenty strong for stock rpm and power but will not survive forced induction." That last one is a disappointment, as much of the internals in the Coyote have been strengthened over what's in the 4.6. It's fascinating to read how they dyno tested this engine; even with all the extremes they put it through it passed with flying colors!
