So as far as tuning how is it working the new TiVCT and the new frequency based MAF vs the previous years/Engines?

if i had sticky tires yesterday, i wouldve been running low 13s i bet. i was on street tires and launching at a whopping 2000rpm. ran a 13.71 as my best. my only mods are non-tune CAI and longtubes.

so, you paid how much more than a stock 5.0 and you're talking crap about someone wanting to mod one and run down your GT500? I'm sorry, but you better be one hell of a driver to beat a boosted 5.0. I'd be willing to bet damned near anything that you wouldn't come out on top...

While I have not talked any crap I would like to chime in here. As someone who was looking at the new 5.0 as well as the GT500 (eventually settling on the latter) I also considered what the new 5.0 could do with a blower. I came to the conclusion that if I purchased a new 5.0 and then coughed up the greenbacks to buy a blower (let's just estimate $6K) I would be better off finding a GT500 which right out of the gate would perform as well or better than a 5.0. Also considering that if I spent the same $6K on a blower upgrade for the GT500 then hands down I'd be better off in the end with the GT500. And just FYI it was actually less money to buy the Shelby than it would have been for the 5.0 by about $4K. I was able to find a used Shelby with 1400 miles (might as well be brand new) for the difference listed above rather than the 5.0 I was looking at buying. Plus in my mind at the end of the day the Shelby (Hate it or love it) will be a Shelby. Just due to the name it will retain value longer VS. A standard GT and that made better financial sense to me. In these times you have to make good financial decisions and for me the Shelby was the better choice.
Just my $.02

Calm down there sparky I was joking. I'm sorry we haven't met....just who are you? I believe I have known most in here for years.... And they know when I'm joking. Take note I happen to like the 5.0 and have seen first hand there capabilities. And for your information (which is non of your business) I paid exactly the amount I would have for the fully loaded 5.0 that I did on this car. Thanks

Nice post David. I too was in the same position as you. I was looking long and hard at the 5.0 vs GT500. The 5.0 is an amazing ride that continues to amaze people. Its by far a great bang for your buck. The one I was looking at had the works....3.73 gears, navigation, glass top, etc etc. You total all of that up and your going to pay a pretty penny...I just could not justify paying that much money for a "GT" with powder forged rods. In a few years when the market is flooded with them...the prices will drop I am sure and there will be great deals to be had. I picked up mine with 1300 miles on her.....I think I made out like a bandit as I am the second owner. I purchased a supercharged 540hp 5.4 that has proven over the years to have amazing potential and hold up to some punishment. I am only a pulley and tune away from 540-550 rwhp and 520-530 rwtq. To obtain those type of results with the 5.0 I would have to purchase a supercharger...which would set me back well over what I paid for this car and then some! Not to mention I would be at the limit of the motor if not past what a 5.0 could handle long term. And like David said...this is a Shelby. They only made 3500 (give or take) of them in 2010 and only made 2500 (Give or take) in 2011...rumors are they are going to continue with a 2012 but after that I think the Shelby name is going away. I like the exclusivity. The Shelby just has this allure about it...its an amazing car and it has a great history. This car is just Bad Ass..plain and simple.
The 5.0 is an amazing car that has impressive power there is no denying that. But again in a few years...when there are thousands on the streets....it will be just another GT and this was a deal breaker for me. When the prices come down in a few years I am thinking of picking up one as a daily driver. Very fun street car!
Everyone has there opinion....this one is mine.

Seriously, his opinion doesnt matter.... he comes, says something and leaves. We shouldnt even pay attention to it! And now im sure he will come some day, and say his car can beat up my car, but again, he will just disappear for months, really wasnt worth the effort you guys put into your posts!
