A ton of sound deadening was used in the new design. Wouldnt hear much if you didnt have the tube. Good and bad IMO

not hokie from what I have read on the other forums. The tube runs into the cabin of the car. Ford engineers wanted to make sure you still heard the motor if you wanted to.

They added a piece that could easily be changed out to add whine back....same with the tube with the foam. Remove the foam and walla

They are trying to make the car more "Refined" There is good and bad in doing that.
