Tires
So, I just bought some rims this past week, and they have tires on them with decent tread, but they seem to be beginning to dry rot a bit, so to play it safe I would like to replace the tires pretty soon. They are 245/45/17s does anyone have any specific brands/tires that they would recommend in this size or just in general? I have Toyo Proxes on my stock rims, but want to go with something different this time. Any thoughts?

Re: Tires
I have Nitto NT555 Extemes on my car that I just love. Very sticky and made for track use. You could probably get by with a cheaper, longer lasting tire though.

Re: Tires
Yeah I don't need gt500 type of sticky. Not with less than 175hp lol.

Re: Tires
What type of driving do you plan to do the most of Isaac? Commute long distance, occasional driving, all weather, stop and go traffic, full on drag strip or road course? Might help narrow down your search a little bit

Re: Tires
Just street driving pretty much. I commute about 40 mi round trip each day to school, almost all highway or country roads. But, I want something that will grip well and handle well and yet not break the bank.

Re: Tires
For the money I have been pretty impressed with the Sumitomo tires.

Re: Tires
I have Sumos HTR ZII... I don't like the them as much as my Toyo T1R.... The Sumos aren't bad for the price. The Toyos are about twice as much. Will I buy the Sumos again? Probably not, I'm rather demanding when it comes to tires. But for street use I think they're fine and good bang for the buck.

I had the Sumitomo HTRZ's on my 06 put about 30K on them in rain dry and even drove it about 40 miles in the crazy snow we had a couple years ago on Christmas eve. It drove like a champ in it all. In fact I specifically remember driving from Tulsa to eufaula on an emergency trip for work in a down pour of heavy rain and was averaging about 85mph the whole way. Again no issues. My experience is that they handle great in the rain. Oh and my old 06 put down 300+ at the tire so it wasn't a slouch.
