Very detailed write-up. I would love to to supercharge my 5.0 one day, maybe when the warranty runs out.

Not sure, but I believe there is a dealer install option for the whipple and or Roush TVS that wont void your warranty. Might look into that.

Here is the article with the details

http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/products/bolt-on-ford-mustang-supercharger

"The Specs

Each of the three versions of the supercharger kit includes a 2.3-liter twin-screw supercharger, intake manifold, intercooler system and high-flow fuel injectors. The baseline, 525-horsepower kit generates 7 psi of boost and includes a Ford ProCal tool to reprogram the electronic control unit. (If an authorized Ford Racing dealer installs the kit, the factory covers the powertrain with a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty.)

The kit we tested, which delivers 624-horsepower, features a smaller pulley that allows the blower to spin fast enough to generate 9 psi of boost, along with a corresponding calibration set. Unfortunately, the extra 99 horsepower pushes the 5.0-liter V8 close enough to its limits that Ford offers no warranty with this kit. Amazingly, both kits are calibrated to be 50-state emissions legal. ''
