Need help with laptop

Post by John on October 21st 2011, 11:17 am

Im running IE 64 bit and all of a sudden Im having issues. Nothing shows up on McAfee but the other day I got a message saying that Adobe was crashing. This laptop is only two weeks old. Basically whats happening is IE will crash intermittently when I try to go back a page or when Im on YouTube and try to open another tab. Also videos and any movement on screen will sometimes have real slow frame rate. Now it said Adobe was the issue but it looks like I have all my updates and everything and I dont have any programs running that would cause this. Should I just install Adobe again? Im not good at troubleshooting computers so help would be appreciated.

Did it happen after you installed Adobe? If so do a full uninstall and do a reinstall.

Which adobe product did you install? Is it a legit copy?

Worst comes to worst... save everything (files) and do a restore.

Restore or take it back to the store... Where did you get it? What model do you have etc?

It might be your video card but I doubt it being this new. But it does happen. Adobe shouldn't effect frame rate. In any case, you won't wanna try to replace it. On some laptops it's integrated into the mother board others it's a stand alone. In any case 99% of them are a pain to change!

Its an Acer. Ive never had a problem with them before. Im on wireless so I guess that could cause some issues. Maybe one of my programs is updating and its not telling me?

The websites Ive been following shouldnt matter. Usually its Facebook, Yahoo, Google, here, and dirtysluts11.net. Thats about it.

When I said on the screen frame rate slowing I meant IE applications only.

Sounds like you have some spyware or malware. Download spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html), install it, check for updates, download them, then run a scan. Tell it to clean anything it finds. Check back after that.

Ive already done all that and I have McAfee, nothing showed up. I havent been anywhere or opened up anything that would give me a bot. I manually updated Adobe so I'll see what that does.

@Jarrod...LOL

I already deleted spybot and went back to my usual Kaspersky. I dont use spybot unless I have nothing else at the moment, it really isnt that great for removing a lot of things but its decent and free.

I can't stand McAfee. I've only used it once and had all kinds of problems, mostly with the web browser. Good call.

Oddly enough I use MS Security Essentials. Free to down, finds 99% of the bad stuff and doesn't leave a big footprint. Amazing for MS. Mal-ware Bytes is also a good one. Macafee is a hog!

It seemed after I actually took the time to observe the issue closer that the macafee site adviser might of been the problem. This is the first time Ive used macafee, seems the stories may be true. It was a free trial so I figured why not.
