need help

Post by mid life crisis on November 13th 2011, 10:39 am

I am new to this club but not to the mustang world. I am looking for a experienced mechanic, other than Archangle (please don't ask why) to finsh building my 96 gt. He must have access to a dyno and be experienced in tuning high performance supercharged and water/methanol injected 2v engine (a Livernois stage three with fox lake intake) Car is 3/4 completed with only a torque arm and aluminum driveshaft to be installed. Engine has never been started, but has sat for a number of year &%$*(*(&*%t*^%$#$@!. tHERE WILL ALSO BE SOME BODY PARTS ASSEMBLY INVOLVED. hOOD, TRUNK FRONT FENDERS. Any recommendations within 300 miles would be appriciated. Thanks

I would look to the Dallas area if you are not comfortable locally with Archangel. There is NO OTHER TUNER/MECHANIC in this area that I can safely send you to with confidence.

Texas is your safest bet and there are some good shops down south

which comes down to opinion on both sides.

there are some peeps in Texas i wouldn't let near my car. add in that if you have a problem you don't have them nearby to assist.

Are you looking for one shop to finish your entire build? Would be a hard task to find someoje like that locally...

Travis @ Gearheads in Arlington. Ive worked with them several times. Not 100% perfect all the time, but they stand behind their work and will make it right.

You are welcome to your opinion, but the original poster needs to know that most on this site would not have their ride tuned by the person you most likely messaged him about.

You are the only one in this club running his tune if I am not mistaken.

There are "peeps" in a lot of places I wouldn't let touch my car, but to deny that there are numerous shops in Texas that do quality work and have "Proven results" and the finances to back their mistakes is naive. Dallas is just a few hours away, its not a huge investment in time if there is an issue.

I would rather trust my car to a "quality proven shop" then have it tuned Incorrectly and risk the motor just because someone is local and or your "buddy".

In all seriousness. I would just get a few people from the club to help put the remaining parts on the car and then research within the specified distance of travel for a tuner. There are several shops within a few hundred miles that could be trusted for a tune.

That would be a good idea.

This time last year, I would say Unique for the body work, but don't know their status with Bill gone. They seem busy when I pass by going to the Baker plant, but dunno...

Does Pinnacle tune?
