5sp swap

Post by Guest on January 9th 2009, 9:05 am

Ok well as some of you know, i hate fox body AOD's, sooo i went and found a guy that will swap me for a 5sp. so for 100 bucks + trade, i got a T5 with a king cobra clutch, adj. quadrant, and a short throw shifter with a sweet cobra knob, wiring harnesses, clutch cable, clutch assymbly/pedal, well.. everything i guess. lol so most of the work is done now, we have his tranny off and pedal assy. off (wich was the hardest part btw), and now ive got my pedal assy off and here in about an hour i will be pullin apart the shifter, and dropping the tranny, and puttin in my new 5sp. oh snap, i gots to go to the store and get new tranny fluid!!! haha. anyways, gears are next! i got me a free set of 3:55's sittin in the garage, so when i get back from TYA i will have those installed... and my heater core is going out also, so i gotta get a new one. dam. thud

Hey Andrew....did you and William pack it up after I left? Sucks that his longtubes wont fit with the Tranny. There has to be a way around it I would guess. Hope he doesnt have to purchase either a C-4 or different long tubes...thats just more money!

Oh and post those pics of the Bellhousing...pure comedy

Umm... there were only 5 bolts to begin with. I took them out. I should know. I think it was a preexisting condition if you ask me.

Not sure...I think check with a fellow mustang buddy for advice...possibly use his headers or stock parts for the time being to get the car moving. As it sits...it looks as thought the header on the drivers side is touching the trans pan and on both sides there isnt enough room for the O2 sensors. He has a trans cooler BUT I think the header is just too close.

Not to mention the TV lever is bound up on the collector, so thats just one more issue

Now we all know what happens when we dont know how to install an Automatic Tranny.

I gave them free lessons on how to install a torque converter.. I guess the joke now is.. How many BMMC members does it take to install a Torque Converter? 4, 1 to install it and 3 to stand and watch in amazement.. lol..
