t-56 6 speed conversion in a s197???

in mm&ff a shop installed a carb'd 302 boss with a tremec tko 600...if they were able to do this then why couldn't a person put a t-56 behind a 3v...i myself prefer a clutch cable over a hydraulic setup...
if anyone has seen or heard anything on the subject let me know... thanks
